Director of Nursing

Expected salary: $100,000–$125,000. Full-time position.

About the role

The Director of Nursing (DON) will administer and manage Nursing Services for residents in accordance with physicians’ orders and residents’ total needs. This role provides 24-hour supervision of Nursing Services and directs the Nursing Department to maintain quality standards of care per current Federal, State, and Company guidelines. In the Administrator’s absence, the DON assumes responsibility for center operations. The position conducts the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—under the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plans for the total care of each resident, ensuring compliance with physician’s orders, governmental regulations, and facility resident care policies.
• Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff; monitor staff practices and implementation.
• Participate in all admissions decisions and may visit prospective residents before admissions.
• Attend daily and weekly management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns.
• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Associate or Bachelor Degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Five years in long-term or acute health care preferred.
• At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience required.
