About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced RN Director of Nursing Services to lead our Nursing Services Department. In this role, you will plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate nursing services to ensure high-quality care within approved budgets and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program.
- Ensure adherence to all nursing policies, procedures, and manuals, updating them as needed.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services and facility staff.
- Foster inter-departmental communication and cooperation to address and correct issues promptly.
- Oversee proper resident discharge procedures and plans.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Administrator regarding department operations.
- Regularly meet with medical staff and assume overall responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
- Develop organizational structures, staffing, and directions within policy and budgetary guidelines.
- Lead the department's personnel function, including hiring qualified staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Coordinate nursing staff discipline when necessary, providing direction, guidance, and counsel.
- Review personnel complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent treatment in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
- Direct internal investigations and oversee incident reporting.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Director of Nursing in a nursing home.
- Current state RN license and Registered Nurse in good standing.
- Meets all applicable federal and state licensure requirements, including at least one year of rehabilitative or geriatric nursing and one year of nursing service administration.
- Attention to detail, strong follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, preferably in a long-term care facility.
- Innovative and able to find creative ways to serve the variety of employee and resident needs while maintaining customer focus.
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and the ability to work as a team.
- Knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative, and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care.
