About the role
The Director, Network & Security reports to the VP, Chief Enterprise Architect & Edge Transformation Leader and serves as the senior leader responsible for Eaton’s global network and network security organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for Eaton’s global Network & Security organization, overseeing Architecture, Network & Security Operations, and Delivery & Lifecycle Management.
- Lead and develop a global team of more than 30 professionals, including senior managers and regional operations teams across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive adoption of AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and employee experience.
- Build and maintain a highly engaged, high-performing technical organization.
- Define and govern enterprise network and network security architectures, standards, and reusable design patterns.
- Develop and execute technology roadmaps across LAN, data center networking, WAN/SD-WAN, wireless, firewalls, NAC, segmentation, Cisco ISE, F5, and related technologies.
- Partner with Cloud, Operations, and End User Computing leaders to deliver scalable, future-ready infrastructure solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, market trends, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Lead a unified global network and security operations organization with end-to-end accountability for service delivery and operational performance.
- Drive improvements in service availability, SLA performance, incident management, compliance, and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
- Establish consistent operational processes, including change management, incident response, and support models across all regions.
- Partner closely with the CISO organization to ensure alignment between operational execution, governance, and security objectives.
- Own the infrastructure delivery portfolio, including: Site refresh and modernization initiatives, SD-WAN deployments, new facility implementations, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, technology refresh and lifecycle programs, technical debt remediation efforts.
- Establish governance processes for project intake, prioritization, and execution.
- Lead architecture-to-operations transitions, including documentation, runbooks, support models, and operational readiness criteria.
- Resolve complex technical and architectural challenges while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and security requirements.
- Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Govern managed services performance and ensure adherence to Eaton’s architecture, standards, and service-level expectations.
- Oversee vendor strategy and technology lifecycle management across platforms including Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5, Zscaler, AT&T, and other telecommunications providers.
- Drive contract governance, service quality, and continuous improvement initiatives with external partners.
- Establish and lead demand management and prioritization processes across architecture, operations, and project delivery teams.
- Develop and operationalize a clear operating model and RACI framework in partnership with Information Security leadership.
- Represent the Network & Security organization with executive leadership, auditors, strategic partners, and external stakeholders.
- Regularly communicate operational performance, project status, service health, and key risks to senior IT leadership.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years of experience leading enterprise network and/or network security organizations in a global, multi-region environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- PREFERRED Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field. Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated experience leading engineering and operations teams through large-scale technology initiatives and operational transformation. Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CCIE, CCNP, or Network Security Architecture certifications. Experience leading an integrated network and security organization at enterprise scale. Deep expertise in SD-WAN, network segmentation, NAC, firewall strategy, and security infrastructure consolidation. Strong technical knowledge of: LAN and data center networking, Routing and switching, WAN and SD-WAN, Wireless networking, Process Control Networks (PCN), Firewalls, Cisco ISE, Check Point, and F5 technologies. Experience developing and governing enterprise reference architectures, standards, and design patterns. Proven partnership with Information Security organizations responsible for governance, policy, and oversight. Experience managing strategic vendor relationships and technology lifecycles across Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5, Zscaler, and leading telecommunications providers. Familiarity with IT/OT convergence and network segmentation strategies within industrial or manufacturing environments. Experience leading Agile delivery and operational models, including the use of automation, AI, and performance metrics to improve outcomes. Experience leading large-scale infrastructure transformations, organizational redesigns, or management consulting engagements.
Benefits
The expected annual salary range for this role is $182000 - $266000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
