Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Job Summary
As Director of Manufacturing & Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading integrated manufacturing operations and engineering projects. This role is responsible for overseeing production performance, process optimization, engineering initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient, high-quality output and continuous improvement across operations supporting steel fabrication and solar tracker manufacturing.
Key Job Responsibilities
Develop and execute manufacturing and engineering strategies, operational plans, and standardized procedures
Design custom automated manufacturing equipment as required
Establish goals and performance targets aligned to operational efficiency, quality, and business growth
Drive automation, process improvement, and optimization of manufacturing workflows and systems (e.g., SAP, MES)
Optimize resource utilization, capacity planning, and working capital to meet production targets and customer delivery commitments
Establish and reinforce policies that promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Oversee day-to-day manufacturing and engineering efforts, including production planning, equipment reliability, manufacturing equipment installations and modifications. and technical support
Lead and develop teams of engineers, technicians, and production staff
Analyze operational data and performance metrics to drive informed decisions; develop reporting and dashboards for leadership
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners
Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – Machine Design Specialty
10+ years of experience in manufacturing of steel products
5+ years of machine design engineering experience on complex machinery
3+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
Demonstrated experience in process improvement, automation, and KPI-driven performance management
Strong business acumen with a results-oriented mindset
Experience supporting manufacturing environments focused on steel products or similar heavy industrial production
Must be proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Proven experience with manufacturing cost modelling and quoting
Must have steel manufacturing experience with processes such as stamping, rollforming, or tube mills. This experience must include trouble shooting these processes on the manufacturing floor
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business-related field
Experience with manufacturing systems, infrastructure, and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP)
Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving rapid operational improvements
Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills
Excellent organizational and prioritization capabilities
Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to develop, mentor, and inspire teams

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site or cross-functional environment
