About the role
The Director of Laboratory at Ottumwa Regional Health Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and growth of the laboratory department. This position is part of a larger healthcare network, Lifepoint Health, which operates across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for successful team-building within the laboratory and hospital
- Ensures the financial strategy of the laboratory meets established goals
- Guarantees regulatory and accrediting agency compliance by developing, integrating, coordinating, and supporting ongoing compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies
- Facilitates the growth of the reference laboratory and hospital through active utilization of client recruitment, retention, customer relations, and marketing strategies
- Manages employee relations, recruitment, and retention, and oversees all aspects of human resource management to maintain a high-quality and positive workplace environment with minimal turnover
- Delivers excellent customer service to all laboratory clients, coordinates laboratory services and processes with other ORHC departments
Requirements
- BA/BS in Medical Technology or scientific discipline
- PREFERRED: MBA or MA/MS in scientific discipline
- 5+ years supervisory/mgmt. experience
- PREFERRED: 8+ years supervisory/mgmt. experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting
- ASCP or AMT license/certification
