About the role
This leadership position within Danone North America’s Finance organization is responsible for overseeing the company’s global insurance programs and enterprise risk management strategy. The Director of Insurance and Risk Management will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive risk mitigation plans to protect the company’s assets, operations, and reputation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, negotiation, and administration of all corporate insurance policies (property, casualty, product liability, D&O, cyber, etc.) to ensure optimal coverage and cost efficiency.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Operations, HR) to identify, assess, and prioritize enterprise risks; develop and execute mitigation strategies.
- Manage relationships with brokers, insurers, and third-party service providers; oversee claims management and resolution.
- Monitor emerging risks (e.g., climate, supply chain, regulatory) and recommend proactive measures to senior leadership.
- Develop and deliver risk management training and awareness programs for employees.
- Ensure compliance with insurance and risk-related regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the CFO, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors on risk exposure, insurance program performance, and mitigation initiatives.
- Oversee captive insurance programs, if applicable, and explore alternative risk financing solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., ARM, CPCU, CRM) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in corporate insurance and risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of global insurance markets, policy structures, and risk financing techniques.
- Experience managing complex insurance programs for multinational organizations, preferably in the food/beverage or CPG industry.
- Proven track record of negotiating with insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
