Required Education Qualifications
Masters Degree in related field
PREFERRED Specialists Degree in related field
PREFERRED Doctoral Degree in related field
Experience Qualifications
- 5 years of experience at the local school or district level, with at least two years of successful experience in an instructional leadership role
- PREFERRED Experience with supervision of staff

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the curriculum development process and the identification, selection, and implementation of instructional resources for all curriculum areas in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).
- Oversee the development and review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).
- Oversee the annual review and revision processes for the AKS, maintaining cohesiveness across program areas and course/grade levels in accordance with the districts philosophy and vision for curriculum.
- Plan and institute the annual work of the GEMS Oversight Committee.
- Assist with the development and distribution of AKS support materials as needed.
- Oversee the development of AKS for new courses across program offices.
- Maintain the districts official course matrix for active and inactive course numbers K-12, assuring that active course numbers are aligned with the state course file.
- Lead the processes for identification, selection and implementation of district selected resources to support instruction of the AKS K-12.
- Maintain knowledge of, evaluate, and communicate current research and trends in instructional resources and distribution practices within K12 education.
- Set the vision for a balanced approach to print and digital resources, future-casting to assure that the district is transitioning as appropriate to next-generation resources.
- Develop long-term and short-term project plans and projections for a cycle of core materials/resources review and procurement.
- Collaborate with program area offices to lead and manage annual core materials procurement processes, assuring adherence to the districts policies and the philosophy and vision for instruction of the AKS.
- Assure a wide scope of stakeholder input in the resource/materials selection process.
- Collaborate with program area offices to provide effective professional learning opportunities for instructional staff at the school and district levels for exemplary implementation of instructional resources/core materials.
- Lead and coordinate with Technology and Innovation (T&I) and Data Governance staff to ensure GCPS technical requirements are met for digital instructional resources.
- Oversee purchase and distribution of core materials/resources and some district selected supplemental materials/resources.
- Develop and monitor district budget to maximize the procurement and adequate inventory of core materials/resources.
- Oversee GCPS inventory processes to maximize availability of instructional resources within budget guidelines.
- Coordinate with T&I and Facilities and Operations staff to maximize use of inventory processes and tools (e.g., Textbook Manager).
- Represent GCPSs best interests in the development, review, and negotiation of GCPS instructional resources contracts with the purchasing office and vendors.
- Collaborate with the curriculum department in support of a coherent vision for teaching and learning throughout the district.
- Lead and coordinate the promotion, development, and facilitation of transformational instructional practices with the use of district-provided instructional resources such as eCLASS C&I, SAFARI Montage, sample course pages, and curriculum guides.
- Develop and manage the program areas annual operating budget in a fiscally responsible manner that supports the initiatives, priorities and goals of the department, division and district.
- Lead a high-performing, growth oriented-team in support of the policies, procedures, initiatives, priorities and goals of the department, division and district.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
