About the role
The successful candidate will lead the hardware organization at AeroVect, ensuring the technical direction and roadmap for the vehicle platform. They will manage the entire hardware team, from mechanical and electrical engineering to sensor suite, manufacturing, and supply chain. The role involves owning the technical direction of the vehicle platform, driving design-for-manufacturing rigor, and managing the team to deliver the hardware roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and vehicle architecture
- Set and own the multi-year hardware roadmap and architectural direction for vehicle platforms across generations
- Drive design-for-manufacturing rigor into the platform
- Manage the hardware team across all disciplines
- Partner with the software teams on the next generation of drive-by-wire stack
- Own the redundancy architecture for each drive-by-wire subsystem
- Lead the path toward a certified drive-by-wire solution
- Own the next generations of sensor suite design
- Own the technical relationship with suppliers and contract manufacturers
- Own the discipline around moving from prototype through pilot production into volume manufacturing
Requirements
- 15+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience on real, shipped products
- Genuine dual depth in mechanical and electrical engineering
- Direct management experience of a hardware or robotics team across multiple disciplines
- Experience with functional-safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or aerospace equivalents)
- Direct experience with electromechanical actuation systems
Qualifications
- Track record of running the operating cadence of a hardware organization
- Experience taking a product from architecture through DFM, supplier qualification, pilot build, and into volume production
- Firmware / embedded experience, or a track record of leading firmware/embedded engineers as part of a hardware organization
Skills
- Strong technical leadership skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Experience with electromechanical actuation systems
- Understanding of functional-safety standards
- Experience with certified drive-by-wire systems
