Director of FSQA
About the role
Our client is a fast‑growing, minority‑owned, family‑operated, B Corp‑certified meat snack brand that produces clean‑label, grass‑fed beef and venison, antibiotic‑free turkey and chicken products with zero added sugar, artificial preservatives, or fillers. The company has scaled from a small team to a national presence and is creating a newly established Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) role to stand up a third branch within the Quality organization focused on regulatory compliance and co‑manufacturer oversight. This is a build‑from‑scratch seat reporting to the hiring manager (to be confirmed) and will likely oversee 1–3 direct reports, including a Manager of Regulatory & Quality Systems and an FSQA intern, as the team structure is finalized.
Responsibilities
- Own food safety and quality compliance across the company's growing network of co‑manufacturer sites (currently 8–9, with more coming online), ensuring every site meets USDA requirements and the company's own standards.
- Travel to sites regularly (approximately twice per month) to conduct audits, assess performance, and develop 30‑ to 90‑day improvement plans for any site that is falling short.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and other teams to embed quality and compliance into decisions from the start,
