About the role
The Director of Financial Systems is a hands-on senior leader who owns the strategy and execution of Socure's finance technology stack — including ERP, billing, revenue, and adjacent financial applications.
Responsibilities
- Set the multi-year strategy and roadmap for Socure’s financial systems landscape (ERP, billing, revenue, and associated integrations), aligning with business objectives and FinOps priorities.
- Lead end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of core financial platforms, ensuring they support GAAP-compliant accounting, robust internal controls, and high-quality financial reporting in partnership with Accounting and FP&A.
- Architect and govern enterprise-grade integrations between financial systems and upstream/downstream applications (e.g., CRM, data warehouse, HRIS, procurement tools), in collaboration with Business Technology and RevOps teams, to enable straight-through processing and consistent data.
- Partner closely with the Controller, Head of Accounting, and FP&A leadership to translate accounting, reporting, and planning requirements into scalable system capabilities and automated workflows.
- Drive financial systems transformation programs (such as ERP upgrades, new module rollouts, and automation initiatives), including business case development, vendor selection, project governance, change management, and successful go-live and adoption.
- Establish and maintain governance, security, and compliance frameworks for financial applications and integrations, supporting SOX-like internal controls, audit readiness, and policy enforcement in partnership with Accounting, InfoSec, and Compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report process flows, reducing manual work, shortening close timelines, and improving transparency and control quality.
- Oversee vendor relationships for financial systems, including evaluation, contract negotiation support, license optimization, and performance management, ensuring cost-effective and scalable solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA) or professional certifications (CPA, CA, or relevant ERP/financial systems certifications) strongly preferred.
- Typically 10+ years of progressive experience in finance systems, accounting technology, business systems, or related functions, with significant experience leading ERP and financial systems in high-growth or SaaS environments.
- Demonstrated expertise with enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday Financials, or similar), including design, configuration, administration, and integration with CRM, HRIS, and data platforms.
- Strong understanding of core accounting and finance processes (order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, revenue recognition, fixed assets) and how they are enabled and controlled through systems; working knowledge of US GAAP and internal control frameworks (SOX-like environments preferred).
- Proven track record leading large-scale systems and process transformation initiatives, including ERP implementations or upgrades, financial automation projects, and integration programs, from strategy through execution and adoption.
- Experience designing and embedding robust application controls, segregation of duties, and audit-ready configurations across financial systems; comfort partnering with auditors and compliance teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, including managing managers and senior ICs; history of building scalable org structures and strong succession pipelines.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering closely with Accounting, FP&A, IT/Business Technology, RevOps, and executive leadership to drive outcomes.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize across multiple programs, manage deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to Socure’s leadership principles and culture: ownership, continuous improvement, ethical stewardship, and building trust across teams.
