About the role

The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role provides strategic financial leadership, ensures the integrity of financial data, and supports executive decision-making to drive organizational growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
    • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on financial analysis
    • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
    • Prepare and deliver quarterly presentations to Board Members as requested
  • Accounting & Reporting
    • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
    • Maintain compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) (or IFRS, as applicable)
  • Compliance & Controls
    • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and audits
    • Cook up and serve as primary liaison with auditors
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management
    • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial risk
    • Manage banking relationships and financing activities
    • Optimize working capital and investment strategies
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff
    • Establish performance goals and ensure professional development
    • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Systems & Process Improvement
    • Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
    • Implement automation and technology solutions to increase efficiency
  • Treasury Management and Bank Compliance
    • Manage daily cash flow, monitor bank balances, coordinate fund transfers, maintain banking relationships, and ensure compliance with bank requirements, loan agreements, reporting deadlines, and related documentation.
  • Day-to-Day Accounting Operations
    • Oversee routine accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end closing support, financial reporting preparation, and coordination with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting records.
  • Bond and Equity Covenant Compliance
    • Monitor bond and equity-related covenant requirements, track compliance deadlines, prepare supporting schedules and reports, coordinate with external parties as needed, and ensure all required financial and compliance information is submitted accurately and on time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Active licensed CPA is a must
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, sales tax in a multi-state environment and internal controls
  • Small company experience in a SAS environment
  • Experience with Acumatica and PN3

Reporting Structure

Will report to the Revenue Officer

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position and remote work position. Must have home office in place.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and comfortable with Adult Content
  • This role is a work from home but a San Francisco Bay Area candidate is preferred.

Salary Range

$200,000 to $225,000 per year (depending on experience)
