About the role

Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB) is a municipal electric, water, wastewater, natural gas, and broadband utility located in the Tennessee Valley, approximately thirty minutes from the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. LCUB serves approximately 80,000 customers across parts of Loudon, Knox, Roane, and Anderson counties, employs approximately 175 professionals, and is the thirteenth largest utility within the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) system.

The Director of Finance & Administrative Operations directs the Finance and Customer Service Departments, ensuring fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, strategic financial planning, and an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Finance and Customer Service Departments
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance
  • Lead strategic financial planning initiatives
  • Guarantee exceptional customer experience across service delivery

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Business Administration, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree or CPA (active or inactive) or a well-defined path to certification with an estimated completion date (preferred)

Experience

  • 5+ years in finance/accounting
  • Experience in electric and multi-department utilities (preferred)
  • Supervisory/leadership experience (a plus)

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, budget forecasting, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with accounting software and reporting systems
  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based application systems (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and developing a culture of innovation and collaboration among different work groups (strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Central Service Association (CSA), or experience with larger ERP systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP (preferred)
