Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB) is a municipal electric, water, wastewater, natural gas, and broadband utility located in the Tennessee Valley, just thirty minutes from the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. LCUB serves approximately 80,000 customers within parts of Loudon, Knox, Roane, and Anderson counties and employs approximately 175 professionals.

About the role

The Director of Finance & Administrative Operations directs the Finance and Customer Service Departments of LCUB, ensuring fiscal responsibility, compliance, strategic financial planning, and guaranteeing exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Finance and Customer Service Departments.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance.
  • Oversee strategic financial planning.
  • Guarantee exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree, CPA (active or inactive), or a well-defined path to certification with an estimated completion date is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance/accounting.
  • Experience in electric and multi-department utilities preferred.
  • Supervisory/leadership experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, budget forecasting, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and reporting systems.
  • Intermediate-to-Advanced proficiency with Microsoft’s suite of cloud-based application systems (e.g., Microsoft 365).
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and developing a culture of innovation and collaboration among different work groups is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Central Service Association (CSA) or experience with larger ERP systems, such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP is preferred.
