About the Role
The Expo Director is responsible for the successful operation of the Cherry West Kentucky Livestock and Exposition (Expo) Center, a 2,748-seat multi-event building. This role serves as the primary liaison between building users and University staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and direct marketing/promotional campaigns to enhance the facility’s reputation and maximize usage.
- Make presentations to organizations and groups about the capabilities and capacities of the Expo Center.
- Establish contractual agreements, overall budgets, operating policies, and procedures.
- Identify operating needs and improve logistics processes and requirements of the facilities.
- Perform operating and financial analyses to ensure proficiency and optimum realization from assets expended.
- Ensure material, equipment, and animal handling meet MSU regulations, Fire Marshall Codes, and OSHA standards.
- Proactively seek customer satisfaction feedback and modify goals accordingly.
- Administer appropriate forms for all inventories, equipment, food accountability, and monitor building and ancillary components.
- Supervise and train the Expo workforce, including full-time and student employees.
- Support and promote the missions of the Huston School of Agriculture and related events.
- Maintain current promoters, proactively seek new events, and promote the Expo to the next level.
- Oversee the Farm Equipment Training Program in the Hutson School of Agriculture.
- Direct the supervision of specialists assigned to various disciplines at the Expo Center and evaluate specialized programs.
- Coordinate with supervisors on strategies to foster community-engaging events aligned with the educational goals of Murray State University.
- Other duties as assigned.
