About the Role
Valerian Technology seeks a visionary and technically adept Director of Engineering to lead our team of Fractional CTOs, Senior, and Principal Engineers. This pivotal leadership role will orchestrate technical strategy, guide engineering teams, and enhance our product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will blend technical depth, strategic thinking, and leadership acumen to drive technological excellence and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Craft and execute a coherent technical strategy aligned with the company's business goals.
- Lead the engineering department in implementing strategic initiatives, driving technological innovation, and ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
- Oversee and support the professional growth of Fractional CTOs, Senior, and Principal Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and advance a deep understanding of the latest technology trends and best practices, encouraging the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies.
- Act as a linchpin between the engineering team and other departments, ensuring clear communication and cohesive collaboration with Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success.
- Optimize engineering processes and practices to improve efficiency and quality, implementing metrics and KPIs to measure performance and progress.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in a high-level engineering role, such as VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, or similar, with a track record of leading successful teams.
- Extensive technical expertise, including fluency in multiple programming languages and tech stacks, with a strong foundation in software architecture and system design.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, aligning technological solutions with business objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering strong relationships within the team and across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical talent, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in leadership positions overseeing technical teams.
