About the role
The Director of Engineering will lead all aspects of Humotech’s technical work across robotics R&D and clinical-facing systems. This includes product design, prototyping, manufacturing, quality control, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor a small engineering team supported by fractional and project-based contractors. Define engineering strategy aligned with company goals and clinical expansion priorities. Set performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and mentorship. Improve engineering and manufacturing workflows in collaboration with cross-functional leads.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to define the company’s technical vision. Monitor emerging technologies in wearable robotics and clinical care. Develop and manage engineering budgets and resource allocation.
- Project Management: Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Define and track KPIs to measure technical performance and outcomes.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical direction across hardware and software systems. Ensure quality, reliability, and validation of engineering deliverables. Maintain alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, operations, and clinical teams to ensure alignment. Work closely with executive leadership to track project status and budgets. Strengthen collaboration across engineering and external stakeholders.
- Talent Development: Recruit and develop top engineering talent. Foster continuous learning and professional growth within the team. Support an inclusive and high-performance culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Robotics Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering roles, including 3+ years in leadership.
- Experience in wearable technology, prosthetics, exoskeletons, or related fields.
- Strong technical expertise across hardware, software, and systems design.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and drive innovation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate strategy into execution in fast-paced environments.
