Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team through coaching, performance management, and regular feedback.
- Establish priorities, assign work, and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development.
- Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving, and engineering decision-making.
Project Planning & Execution
- Translate business and product objectives into structured engineering plans with defined milestones and deliverables.
- Manage multiple engineering projects using a practical stage-gate or hybrid project management approach.
- Facilitate planning meetings, status reviews, and project tracking.
Performance Metrics & Reporting
- Develop and monitor engineering KPIs, including:
- Project milestone completion
- Making manufacturing support response times
- Engineering request backlog
- Cross-functional project status
- Provide regular project updates, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison with Manufacturing, Operations, Technical Support, and other internal teams.
- Cookordinate engineering resources to resolve production issues and support ongoing business needs.
- Escalate project risks and resource needs proactively to leadership.
Product Development & Manufacturing Support
- Lead engineering efforts from concept through production release.
- Support new product development while ensuring manufacturability, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved.
- Drive timely resolution of production, quality, tooling, BOM, drawing, and process-related issues.
- Lead engineering support for customer-driven product improvements and corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve engineering processes, documentation, change management, revision control, and verification practices.
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve communication, and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–10 years of engineering or product development experience.
- 3–5 years of engineering leadership, project leadership, or supervisory experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and resolving production-related engineering issues.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical product development.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience using project tracking tools, project management software, or engineering workflow systems.
- PREFERRED:
- Experience with electrical products, lighting, power electronics, safety-related products, or industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as UL, NFPA, IEC, or similar regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in hardware and embedded firmware product environments.
- Experience presenting project status and performance metrics to executive leadership.
