Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a BS degree in manufacturing engineering or related field and minimum of five years of experience leading engineers in a manufacturing industry. Preferred candidates will have experience in sheet metal bending and fabrication, ISO (9000 and 14000) compliant operations and lean/ six sigma certification. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, design and model creation using CAD and solid modeling software (Solid Works preferred)
  • Formal training and/or experience creating manufacturing processes that prioritize operator safety
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to facilitate group problem solving and implementation activities
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying and integrating cutting-edge engineering methodologies and design trends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization professionally
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Accountability and responsibility for meeting departmental goals and objectives

Essential Functions

  • Model Core Values
  • Train, assign work, monitor results, mentor, and provide feedback and development opportunities to direct reports
  • Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term strategies and operate policies to achieve established departmental goals and objectives
  • Develop and submit reports to the Executive Team as to current status of projects, compliance with schedules, and budget maintenance
  • Daily manufacturing engineering support
  • Confer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Prioritize Operations by ensuring they are always equipped and supported with the technical expertise required
  • Process improvement / Root cause identification- manufacturing process
  • Review customer designs and make recommendations to improve design, reduce costs, or increase production efficiency (Design for Manufacturability)
  • Program engineering
  • Direct and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team, focusing on Bills of Materials (BOMs), Bills of Operations (BOOs), Product value stream flow and profitability
  • Determine engineering hours and project costs to provide project estimates used in the development of quotes
  • Support NPI Collaborate cross functionally within NPI process for customer programs and projects
  • Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the Operations organization

  • Seek and perform alternate, productive tasks to keep busy during unexpected down time
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
