Director of Employee Benefits Operations & Client Strategy
About the Role
The Director of Employee Benefits Operations & Client Strategy reports directly to the Vice President of Employee Benefits and serves in a dual-capacity leadership role, combining senior-level Account Executive responsibilities with operational leadership of the Employee Benefits service team. This individual will serve as an Account Executive for a portfolio of Employee Benefits clients while providing day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and support to Employee Benefits Account Managers.
The position is responsible for driving client retention, expanding self-funded and alternative funding solutions, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across the Employee Benefits division. Working closely with the Vice President of Employee Benefits, Producers, agency leadership, carriers, and vendor partners, the Director will support growth initiatives, improve profitability, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued success and expansion of the Employee Benefits practice.

Client Consulting & Relationship Management
- Serve as Account Executive for complex and large employer groups
- Manage a portfolio of mid-market and large employer clients
- Lead renewals with Producers and Account Managers
- Develop strategic funding and renewal recommendations
- Oversee marketing efforts, claims reporting, vendor management, and enrollment strategies
Team Leadership & Operations Management
- Provide day-to-day leadership to Account Managers
- Mentor and develop team members
- Establish service standards and best practices
- Lead process improvement initiatives
- Support onboarding and professional development
Requirements
- 7+ years of Employee Benefits experience
- Experience managing large and complex employer groups
- Leadership experience developing service teams
- Strong expertise in self-funded health plans, captive arrangements, reference-based pricing, level-funded plans, and alternative funding strategies (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA
- Life & Health License required
- CEBS, RHU, REBC, or similar designation preferred
