Director of Distribution Services
Position Purpose
The Distribution Director is responsible for leading and optimizing all distribution and logistics operations, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of products to customers and partners. This role oversees warehouse operations, transportation, inventory management, and distribution strategy while driving continuous improvement, service excellence, and operational scalability.
Duties, Tasks, And Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy: Develop and execute the overall distribution strategy aligned with business objectives
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing distribution and logistics team
Establish performance metrics (KPIs) and drive accountability across operations
Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and FinanceOperations Management: Oversee daily operations across distribution centers, warehouses, and transportation networks
Ensure efficient receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping processes
Drive improvements in productivity, accuracy, and service levels
Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and carriersInventory & Supply Chain Optimization: Ensure optimal inventory levels and accuracy across all distribution locations
Partner with planning and procurement teams to align supply and demand
Implement best practices in inventory control, slotting, and replenishmentFinancial Oversight: Develop and manage the distribution budget, including labor, transportation, and facility costs
Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall operational efficiency
Analyze financial and operational data to guide decision-makingProcess Improvement & Technology: Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
Drive adoption and optimization of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and automation technologies
Enhance data visibility, reporting, and analytics capabilitiesCompliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
Maintain a strong culture of workplace safety and risk management
Develop and enforce policies and procedures for operational consistency
Education, Skills And Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of progressive experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management
5+ years of leadership experience managing large, multi-site teams
Strong leadership and people management skills
Deep knowledge of distribution operations, warehousing, and transportation
Proven experience driving operational excellence and process improvements
Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost controls
Proficiency with WMS, TMS, ERP systems, and data analytics tools
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
