Supports the overall strategic efforts of Liberty University by refining and implementing the Office of Development’s fundraising activities. Fosters collaborative relationships with campus colleagues and University constituents by coordinating joint solicitation efforts and multiple development programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with Liberty University development colleagues and campus constituents to maximize total gift revenue, plan solicitation strategies, and leverage joint solicitation efforts.
- Assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records, contact reports, and background data to facilitate periodic reports on activities and costs.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
- Articulates and defends the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
- Maintains confidentiality while managing highly sensitive documents and information.
- Builds ongoing relationships with alumni, donors, businesses, students, parents of students, and friends of Liberty University.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of successful experience in development, alumni relations, athletic fundraising, or donor relations position (preferably in higher education). Note: Director of Development-Flames Club Operations requires a minimum of 2 years of collegiate development or similar professional experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with academic leadership, faculty, prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and fundraising databases or support modules (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, CRM, Wealth Profile, People Search, or Analytics).
- Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports to support development objectives.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, university staff, and others.
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of schools/colleges and donors to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
Skills
- Strong communication and comprehension skills, both verbal and written, to convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Professional public communication skills to represent Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers and associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Problem-solving ability to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve routine problems.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
- Occasionally lift 10 or fewer pounds.
Working Conditions
- Climate-controlled office setting with moderate noise levels and good lighting.
- Use of personal or LU vehicles is not required for travel in the performance of essential functions.
Pay
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00, determined based on qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions.
