About the role

The Director of Data Science and Analytics will lead the development and implementation of advanced data science solutions to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making within Synapse Health's DME operations. The role will focus on building predictive models to optimize vendor matching, order routing, and supply chain optimization, ensuring that every recommendation is backed by measurable impact on costs, quality, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor the roadmap to the P&L before writing a single model.
  • Quantify the actual cost of a bad vendor match, a mis-routed order, and network bottlenecks against our capitated rate.
  • Break the roadmap into quarters, sequenced by leverage, not by ease.
  • Turn vendor matching, order routing, and supply chain optimization into a quarter-by-quarter plan across the team.
  • Ship the first real win in your first 90 days.
  • Build the measurement infrastructure alongside the models.
  • Lead and grow the team of data scientists.
  • Partner with product on the roadmap.
  • Manage up in numbers.
  • Partner with Engineering on the data foundation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required in a quantitative field.
  • 8+ years in data science, including 3+ years directly managing a team of data scientists.
  • Strong technical foundation in standard predictive ML.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience managing senior technical resources.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a high-pressure, ambiguous environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in offline and online reinforcement learning.
  • Experience in operations research methods.
  • Rigorous causal inference skills.
  • Deep expertise in health economics.
  • Experience building agentic AI tools.

Skills
