Essential Job Functions
- Aids principals in planning and implementing effective programs of curriculum, instruction, supervision, and assessment.
- Engages in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional program.
- Guides the selection and use of textbooks and other teaching materials.
- Provides leadership in planning and conducting data-driven curriculum studies.
- Coordinates and leads staff development activities for teachers and staff.
- Assists principals and teachers in the organization and presentation of instruction.
- Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction with state and regional accreditation processes, including the U.S. Department of Education, NCDPI, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Supports and coaches teachers in solving instructional problems.
- Interprets the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the entire school program to the Board and the community.
- Observes beginning teachers and provides feedback to the teacher and principal.
- Observes veteran teachers in their classroom and provides feedback.
- Supports and coaches building principals in the improvement process.
- Reviews and evaluates curriculum alignment with the assessment program.
- Assists in the review of school improvement plans.
- Collaborates with administrative and supervisory personnel on the overall education program.
- Coordinates textbook inventory and distribution.
- Reviews and evaluates curriculum alignment with the assessment program.
- Assists in the development of strategic plans for improving student achievement.
Team Leadership
- Participates in the interview and selection process of the instructional staff as appropriate.
- Supervises and evaluates district staff, as outlined in the District Organizational Chart.
- Conducts formal and informal observations and supervision of staff.
- Counsels with principals and teachers on matters of district-wide concerns in order to help them improve their effectiveness.
- Collaborates with administrative and supervisory personnel on the overall education program.
- Stays abreast of current educational developments and literature; participates in the affairs of state and national societies.
Education And Qualifications
Master's degree required.
Other Duties
All duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Supervisor.
FLSA Exempt.
