About the role

The Director of Student Support Services (SSS) oversees the TRIO Student Support Services program, one of four federally funded TRIO programs at Creighton. This role is critical to the Division of Student Success and is housed in The Success Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the TRIO Student Support Services program and staff.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs, services, and strategies that promote student success, retention, persistence, academic development, and degree completion.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate program staff while fostering a collaborative and student-centered team environment.
  • Promote the mission, objectives, and philosophy of the SSS program to the university community and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and other offices serving first-generation students and students with disabilities, including Student Accessibility Services, Academic Success, Student and Family Support, Curas Services, Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Services, and pre-college TRIO programs.
  • Ensure strategic direction, data collection, assessment, and continuous improvement for areas within the position's scope.
  • Maintain compliance with the approved grant, U.S. Department of Education regulations, institutional policies, and other applicable federal requirements.
  • Manage the TRIO SSS budget, participant records, eligibility documentation, and program data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and appropriate use of grant funds.
  • Monitor progress toward grant objectives and oversee required federal and institutional reporting, including the TRIO Student Support Services Annual Performance Report.
  • Serve as an instructor for TSC 125 and maintain a caseload of students as their SSS coach.
  • Represent the program on university committees, initiatives, and special projects.
  • Serve as a member of the Student Success Leadership Team within the Division of Student Success.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience at the assistant or director level administering comprehensive support programs.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership roles in higher education with program development, program and staff management, and monitoring key student success metrics- retention, academic progress, credit completion, and graduation.
  • Experience with key student populations- specifically first-generation students, students with disabilities and students from low-income backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience making effective public presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience is developing relationships with faculty, staff, and community constituents.
  • Understanding of departmental budgets and general accounting principles.
  • Experience gathering relevant data for promoting program, grant writing and reporting institutional and grant information.
