Director of Construction Operations - Onsite

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Construction Operations to provide companywide leadership for project management and field operations, with a direct track to a Vice President role. This opportunity is designed for a successful Project Executive from a sophisticated general contractor or construction manager who is ready to move beyond oversight of an individual project portfolio and take on broader organizational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead companywide project management and field operations
• Maintain project financial performance, schedules, staffing, risk, quality, safety, and client satisfaction
• Identify at-risk projects early and lead practical recovery efforts
• Coach and develop project executives, project managers, and the General Superintendent
• Improve collaboration and accountability between office and field teams
• Strengthen project forecasting, change management, contract administration, procurement, and closeout
• Support the General Superintendent with field staffing, succession planning, performance management, and superintendent development
• Develop scalable operating practices that support continued growth without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
• Build strong relationships with key clients, design partners, and trade partners

Primary Requirements

• At least 15+ years of progressive commercial construction experience
• A record of successfully leading multiple complex projects and project teams
• Strong financial, contractual, scheduling, and risk-management expertise
• Experience working closely with superintendents and senior field leaders
• Pioneering ability to coach, develop, and hold experienced professionals accountable
• The judgment to know when to delegate, coach, or intervene directly
• The desire and capability to grow into a broader executive operations role
