Director of Construction

What You'll Do

  • Build and Lead the Team
    • Lead, coach, and hold Project Managers accountable for GP, NPS, and project outcomes
    • Create a regular PM coaching cadence with weekly one-on-ones and structured development plans
    • Create clear delegation frameworks and decision-making authorities
    • Facilitate weekly production meetings and maintain team alignment
  • Create Systems That Scale
    • Design estimating systems and costing database for consistent, accurate project pricing
    • Document "The Winn Way"—company standards covering key processes and trade scopes
    • Develop PM empowerment tools: budget protocols, schedule frameworks, decision authorities
    • Establish subcontractor performance tracking and feedback systems
  • Ensure Project Success
    • Serve as escalation point for schedule, budget, and quality challenges
    • Maintain project financials and proactively address budget variances
    • Manage trade partner relationships and oversee purchasing strategies
  • Drive Strategic Growth
    • Contribute construction operations expertise to the Venli Homes product line
    • Participate in annual production planning and capacity forecasting

Your First Year

  • Months 1–3: Learn the business, build relationships, audit current systems, identify and implement quick wins
  • Months 4–6: Implement one major operational system, establish PM coaching cadence, demonstrate measurable improvements
  • Months 7–12: Complete "The Winn Way" documentation, launch PM empowerment initiative, achieve consistent 35% GP and 9–10 NPS

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years residential construction experience including ground-up new construction
  • 3+ years leading construction teams and developing direct reports
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects ($1M+ values)
  • Track record building systems that improve operational performance
  • Strong integrity, accountability, and genuine interest in developing others

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150,000–$160,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
  • Up to $30,000 annual performance incentive tied to gross profit margin and client satisfaction
