About the role
The ACLU seeks a full-time, experienced professional to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity to work on the front lines of defending civil liberties and civil rights.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic advocacy campaigns.
- Conduct legal and policy analysis on a range of civil rights issues.
- Draft legal documents, reports, and public communications.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments and with external partners.
- Engage with community stakeholders and coalitions.
- Represent the ACLU in public forums and with government officials.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to a state bar and eligibility for admission to the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of legal practice experience, preferably in civil rights or public interest law.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and social justice.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience with litigation and/or legislative advocacy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with legal research databases and standard office software.
