About the role

The Director of Collections and Exhibitions oversees the preservation, curation, and presentation of the museum’s extensive collections and exhibitions. This role requires a deep understanding of historical artifacts and a passion for sharing history with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the care and maintenance of the museum’s collections, including conservation efforts and storage solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the visitor experience through engaging exhibitions and programs.
  • Collaborate with curators and other staff to ensure the accuracy and relevance of exhibits.
  • Manage the acquisition and disposal of new objects and materials.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to promote the museum’s exhibitions and events.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in museum curation, collections management, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team.
  • Experience with digital media and virtual tours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of historical artifacts and their preservation techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with budget management and grant writing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of digital media and virtual tour development.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
