About the role

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member for their Sarcoma Program. The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. Reporting to the Clinical Research Division Senior Vice President (SVP) and Sarcoma Program Head, the Director of Clinical Research for Sarcoma will be charged with expanding clinical research initiatives specifically related to Sarcoma.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Fred Hutch’s Sarcoma Clinical research operations
  • Galvanize multi-disciplinary translational research within Fred Hutch
  • Develop and grow the Fred Hutch Sarcoma Clinical Research Program
  • Organize, direct, and expand the clinical research efforts of an established team of sarcoma clinicians
  • Foster and develop an environment that facilitates clinical and translational research
  • Organize, direct, and expand the clinical research efforts of an established team of sarcoma clinicians
  • Lead and facilitate translational research collaborations in sarcoma across the Cancer Consortium
  • Educate and train researchers in sarcoma
  • Create a vision for the future of sarcoma and its treatment for the region in collaboration with other oncology leaders

Requirements

  • Prioritizes developing new research collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and national trials
  • Built strong partnerships among researchers and staff
  • Integrates trials across and between different stakeholders
  • Leads and facilitates translational research collaborations in sarcoma across the Cancer Consortium
  • Educates and trains researchers in sarcoma
  • Creates a vision for the future of sarcoma and its treatment for the region in collaboration with other oncology leaders

Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board certification in medical oncology (or foreign equivalent)
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, clinical oversight of learners, and research mentorship
  • Demonstrated record in clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research, with a primary focus on sarcomas and closely related conditions

Benefits

This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an Administrative Supplement (ADS) in addition to base pay.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is from $315,000 to $335,000 for faculty hired at the assistant professor rank, from $350,000 to $375,000 for faculty hired at the associate professor rank, and from $385,000 to $400,000 for faculty hired at the full professor rank.

Schedule

The anticipated start date is August 2026 (flexible).
