Director of Clinical Education Outreach - College of Medicine

JOB SUMMARY

The clinical outreach model relies heavily on a robust system of community-based clinical rotations, in which students will perform under the guidance of faculty preceptors. As such, the Director of Clinical Education Outreach will have a commitment to customer service, innovation, and primary / specialty care based upon interdisciplinary and inter-professional education and will sustain the number and quality of affiliation agreements.

Characteristic Job Tasks And Responsibilities

• Establish clinical goals, outcomes and measures to assess student, faculty and affiliate performance, efficiency and productivity;
• Develop the network of extramural rotations and clinical community sites to support the pre-doctoral clinical education program;
• Establish and track affiliation agreements;
• Establish extramural rotations and community-based sites for pre-doctoral education;
• Work with various local and regional health care agencies, not for profits, and the community of practitioners to ensure that a full range of health care services are provided to the underserved populations;
• Prepare educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans.etc.);
• Prepare various exercises that parallel Patient Clinic protocol and procedure;
• Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Associate Dean of Clinical Education and/or his/her designee;
• Participate in and be responsible for a variety of LECOM and other community outreach functions to enhance and promote the mission of LECOM;
• Ensure proper appointment and credentialing of adjunct faculty on an as needed basis;
• Engage medical education leadership teams and administrative support at affiliate sites by supporting and coordinating:
• Regularly scheduled meetings (Monthly-Quarterly) with an agenda tracking key items including: Wellness of students Identify students with difficulties Student attendance and engagement Preceptor faculty engagement and opportunities for professional development Change in clinical faculty to remove or add for LECOM faculty appointments Needs assessment of site Rotation review and identify opportunities for rotation development Engage affiliate sites medical education leadership teams with LECOM with regular communication, such as a Clinical Education Newsletter; organizin and coordinating annual hospital days, and other outreach initiatives. Engaging LECOM Regional campuses and assisting in organization and coordination of annual Regional Dean Retreat. Engaging community preceptors/clinical faculty to make
• Manage office staff and related functions on an as needed basis;
• Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes;
• Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
• Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
• Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach;
• Must be available for work during the hours assigned, for student instruction and overall clinic development;
• Accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution's needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Broad knowledge of clinical trends and issues in medical education;
• General knowledge of the principles of community organization, public and business administration;
• Demonstrated leadership skills and professionalism;
• Excellent customer service, public relations, and marketing skills;
• Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;
