Position Summary

Northland Workforce Training Center (NWTC) is seeking a Director of Clean Energy to lead the Western New York Clean Energy Experience Center and Clean Technology Lab in Buffalo, New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as NWTC’s primary subject matter expert on clean energy, speaking knowledgeably to students, visitors, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead tours of The WNY Clean Energy Experience Center and Clean Technology Lab engaging residents, entrepreneurs, prospective students, employers, donors, elected officials, and members of the public, tailoring presentations to each audience.
  • Develop and deliver educational content and presentations on clean energy topics, trends, and technologies, in alignment with local, state and national clean energy goals.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with program sponsors and partners to ensure programming reflects current regional clean energy priorities and initiatives.
  • Build relationships with clean energy employers, utilities, and manufacturers to align The Clean Technology Lab programming with current and emerging workforce needs.
  • Track emerging clean energy trends, incentives, and policies, providing strategic insights and recommendations, positioning NWTC as a thought leader in the sector.
  • Represent NWTC at industry conferences, community events, and partner meetings related to clean energy.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to ensure clean energy content is current, accurate, and relevant to manufacturing-aligned training programs.

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, environmental science, energy studies, business, or a comparable discipline).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the clean energy or energy industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clean energy technologies, trends, and policy, with the ability to speak to varied audiences.
  • Experience networking and interfacing with business, industry, educational partners and policy makers.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with experience leading tours and seminars as well as experience delivering coursework and or facilitating training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience working with regional grid operators or similar public energy authorities.
  • Familiarity with the Buffalo, NY, and Western New York manufacturing and energy landscape.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree or professional certification aligned with clean energy (e.g., energy management, sustainability, or a related technical certification).

Pay

$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
