About the role
The Director of Children’s Formation at York Alliance Church is responsible for developing, implementing, and nurturing a vision for Children’s Formation that aligns with the church’s broader vision and discipleship pathway.
Responsibilities
- Work with the XPM to develop, lead, and consistently implement a vision for Children’s Formation that aligns with the vision of YAC and its discipleship/spiritual formation pathway.
- Establish and equip a core teaching team (during the school year and summer) to instruct children in God’s Word weekly on Sundays.
- Work with the XPM to select a biblically based curriculum.
- Support and provide leadership and vision for the midweek children’s formation program.
- Provide resources and guidance for Community Group Shepherds to engage children within their groups.
- Care for childcare needs for Sunday celebration gatherings and all special events.
- Coordinate and facilitate special events for Children’s Formation throughout the year (Retreats, Camps, etc.).
- Effectively communicate the status of Children’s Formation to all parents and the congregation.
- Manage children’s resources and ensure proper care of facility used by children.
- Ensure ongoing child safety through a program that includes background checks, safety policies, procedures, etc.
- Function as part of a staff team that has input and ownership into all facets of formation at YAC.
- Set the pace for the corresponding role at other campuses within the York Alliance Family of Churches.
- Vet resources.
- Aid in training church plant core team members prior to launch.
- Ongoing general support and collaboration within purview.
- Determine standards of accountability to formation processes, in concert with other applicable leadership (Campus Pastors, Elders, etc.).
- Develop an annual budget for Children’s Formation and manage spending accordingly.
- Engage regional interaction with groups or events relevant to Children’s Formation.
- Maintain a healthy balance between family life, work, and other responsibilities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in Children’s Formation or as a teacher.
- Possess a passion for developing children into followers of Jesus.
- Strong leader with a dependable and timely work ethic.
- Possess strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage children and their parents.
