Director of Catering & Events
Woodholme Country Club, located in Pikesville, MD, is seeking a driven individual for a full-time Director of Catering & Events role within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
About the Role
Directs and oversees the Catering department. Responsible for seeking new business, ensuring return business, and overseeing planning and execution of catering events. Creates memorable member/guest moments while maximizing facility revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Seeks new business and ensures return business to meet or exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
- Leads the daily operation of the catering department, ensuring execution meets club and client obligations.
- Monitors business volume forecasts and plans for manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
- Manages all catered events, including sales, marketing, planning, merchandising, servicing, and administrative procedures.
- Prepares and compiles data for reports such as Annual Sales Plan, Competitive Price Set, Monthly Catering Report, Annual Goals, and Forecasts.
- Develops new ideas for theme events in collaboration with Sales and Marketing, Recreation, Food and Beverage, Golf, and Membership departments.
- Contracts and books banquets, caterings, and corresponding recreational activities.
- Works with the Food & Beverage department to develop banquet menus, pricing, and revenue minimums using current and competitive data.
- Participates in pre-event presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
- Ensures accurate and timely invoicing for all services rendered.
- Implements policies and procedures for the Catering Department, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Oversees interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for associates.
- Manages department members, including Catering Coordinator, Banquet Chef or Cook, Banquet Manager, and Banquet Servers.
- Ensures effective orientation and ongoing training programs for associates.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree (AA) and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing personnel.
- ServSafe Certified Food Manager (Food & Alcohol) or TIPS equivalent.

- Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, tastes, or smells.
- Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Skills
- Ability to read and speak English (required for communication with customers and co-workers).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and POS systems.
- Extensive knowledge of beer, wine & spirits and current food trends in the industry.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Social media experience.
- High-end catering experience.
- Availability for nights and weekends.
