About the role

United Education Institute is seeking a Director of Career Services to join our team at our new campus in Albuquerque, NM. In this position, you will administer the campus' job placement program, ensuring a successful student placement experience. As a member of the campus management team, you will lead the Career Services department to meet its objectives and goals, develop services that support the school's mission, and foster student professional and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditor standards, and institutional policies and procedures related to student job placement.
  • Lead the Career Services team to achieve placement results consistent with regulatory agency standards and company guidelines.
  • Actively promote the company’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring employees incorporate these into their daily work.
  • Develop and implement the campus strategy for Career Services.
  • Ensure execution of IEC-wide and regional strategic plans in Career Services.
  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, and procedures related to placement and documentation.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to Career Services peers and new specialists.
  • Participate and assume leadership in campus special projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve Career Services metrics.
  • Partner with compliance on placement verification and documentation processes.
  • Prepare and manage the Career Services Department budget, including staff allocation.
  • Manage Career Services staff and resources to ensure effective operations and meet critical targets.
  • Motivate departmental staff, including career advancement opportunities, training, and goal-setting.
  • Oversee the externship component of all relevant programs and develop strategies to achieve Extern-to-Hire goals in collaboration with the Education Department.
  • Ensure consistency in standard IEC-wide Career Services structures, such as professional development workshops and accountability meetings.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of professional development programs for Career Services staff.
  • Develop and manage Advisory Board Meetings and make recommendations to the Executive and Academic Committee regarding workplace skills.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employers, sponsor on-campus recruiting, and participate in business and community-development events.
  • Promote and maintain alumni relations.
  • Collaborate with campus functional departments.
  • Provide market surveys on proposed new educational programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Some college preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of combined career services and management experience, with over one year of management experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective problem-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, to manage team priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain a team effectively.
  • Good general business knowledge and ability to supervise and lead a team of professionals.
  • Successful track record of placement activities in an educational or staffing/recruiting environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive in the United States.
