Position Summary The Director of Assets leads enterprise asset governance for trucks, tanks, cylinders, trailers, service equipment, and related operational assets. This role ensures assets are visible, accurate, compliant, maintained, and available to support safe and reliable field operations. Key Areas of Ownership Asset governance, lifecycle standards, and enterprise asset controls Operational asset inventory, reconciliation, location assignment, and data accuracy Asset identification, tagging, tracking technology, and audit compliance Maintenance coordination with Fleet, Logistics, HSSE, and Operations Lifecycle planning, utilization analysis, replacement recommendations, and disposition Performance reporting, dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, corrective actions, and continuous improvement Training, SOPs, process documentation, cross-functional support, and team accountability Key Areas of Responsibility Set asset management policies, SOPs, workflows, controls, and lifecycle standards across the organization. Maintain accurate asset records for ownership, location, condition, status, utilization, maintenance history, and disposition. Lead inventories, audits, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, and corrective actions to improve asset visibility and data quality. Manage asset identification, tagging, labeling, transfers, and approved tracking technologies such as barcode, RFID, GPS, or QR code tools. Coordinate maintenance priorities with Fleet, HSSE, and Operations, including work orders, preventive maintenance, downtime, repairs, and return-to-service readiness. Support lifecycle planning, utilization analysis, replacement recommendations, surplus review, disposal, capital planning, and annual budget inputs. Develop dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, audit reporting, training materials, job aids, and process guides that support accountability and continuous improvement. Lead assigned team members through clear expectations, coaching, performance management, training, and follow-up. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Asset Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Three or more years in asset, fleet, equipment, inventory, or operations management; leadership experience preferred. Experience with asset tracking technologies, inventory systems, ERP platforms, computerized asset or maintenance systems, and operational reporting tools. Preferred industry experience includes propane, energy, utilities, logistics, manufacturing, construction, or other asset-intensive operations. Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, maintenance coordination, inventory control, process standardization, data accuracy, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement. Company-issued Asset Management/Tracking System Certification required within 90 days of hire. Preferred certifications include Certified Reliability Leader, Certified Equipment Manager, Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or leadership development. Key Performance Indicators Asset inventory and transfer accuracy Asset utilization Asset downtime Preventive maintenance compliance Safety Responsibilities Partners with HSSE, Fleet, Commercial, and Operations to ensure assets remain safe, compliant, service-ready, and aligned with company standards. Work Environment This position operates in both office and field environments and requires frequent interaction with drivers, dispatch personnel, customer care employees, field leadership, and customers. Travel to service centers, depots, maintenance facilities, and field locations as needed.
