About the role
The Director of Annual Giving & Communications is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, OR.
Responsibilities
- Leading and executing strategies that grow philanthropic support and deepen engagement with the OES community.
- Overseeing all aspects of the annual fund, including planning campaigns, segmenting donors, coordinating appeals, and tracking results.
- Managing donor communications across print, email, web, and social media, ensuring consistent messaging and compelling storytelling about the school’s mission and impact.
- Collaborating with advancement staff, faculty, and administrators;
- Cultivating and stewarding donors;
- Analyzing giving data;
- Cooking up events and outreach that support annual giving goals.
- Supervising the development of marketing and communication materials that support fundraising, alumni engagement, and community relations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Annual Giving and Annual Fund programs, including planning, execution, and analysis of fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of Alumni Relations and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with graduates and families.
- Understanding of Philanthropy and Planned Giving principles, with the capacity to support donors in aligning their giving with institutional priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating donor-centered content and strategic communications across multiple channels.
- Proven ability to use data and CRM systems to manage donor information, segment audiences, and measure campaign effectiveness.
- Experience in educational or nonprofit advancement, with familiarity with independent schools or similar environments preferred.
- Collaborative work style, ability to lead projects, manage deadlines, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
