Director of AI & Innovation

About the role

We are seeking a visionary leader to build the AI playbook for a top-ranked national design and construction firm based in Melbourne, Florida. The ideal candidate will support a nationally recognized AEC firm with expertise in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, commercial, and federal markets.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate current workflows across design, engineering, and construction services to identify where AI and automation can improve efficiency, quality, and risk management.
• Build and execute the firm's AI roadmap, including piloting emerging tools such as BIM automation, generative design, predictive scheduling, AI-assisted QA/QC, and bid development.
• Partner with IT and legal teams to ensure secure and scalable deployment of AI solutions.
• Lead change management initiatives to facilitate the transition from pilot projects to firm-wide practices.
• Present at industry events, publish case studies, and collaborate with clients on AI-enabled project delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the AEC industry.
• 3 to 5 years of leadership in technology, innovation, or digital transformation, with a proven track record of deploying AI at scale.
• 8 to 15 years of total professional experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, computer/data science, or a technology-focused business field (Master's preferred).
• A rare ability to bridge strategic planning with practical implementation, capable of engaging both executives and project teams.
• Curiosity, experimentation, and a deep understanding that successful adoption requires addressing human factors before technical challenges.
