Director of AI Engineering

For our client, a leader in the healthcare space, we are seeking a Director of AI Engineering to join their team. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will collaborate across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions, influencing architecture, execution quality, and long-term technology growth within a healthcare environment.

Location: Remote – US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI solutions across various operations
• Develop and manage a roadmap for AI automation initiatives
• Directly manage a small team of engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement
• Identify and address operational challenges through AI systems
• Evaluate and implement new AI tools and frameworks tailored to operational needs

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of engineering experience with a focus on AI systems
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, APIs, and system design
• Proven hands-on experience with AI technologies and tools (e.g., LLM orchestration, vector databases)
• Track record of building systems that deliver measurable operational improvements
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading and developing small engineering teams
• Preferred: Expertise in machine learning and change management

Pay

$150,000 – $180,000 annually
