Accountabilities
The Director of AI-Enabled Instruction, ELA will lead the development and implementation of scalable instructional strategies that combine research-based teaching practices with emerging AI capabilities. This role requires a strong understanding of ELA pedagogy, educator development, and iterative design processes.
- Designing and implementing an AI-enabled ELA instructional model that supports educators in delivering high-quality, standards-aligned literacy instruction.
- Leading pilots, prototypes, and innovation initiatives by defining learning goals, collecting evidence, analyzing outcomes, and refining approaches based on insights.
- Prioritizing collaboration with teachers, instructional coaches, school system leaders, and internal teams to translate instructional vision into effective classroom practices.
- Ensuring curriculum integrity by applying deep knowledge of ELA content, Science of Reading principles, and high-quality instructional materials.
- Building educator capacity through professional learning experiences that strengthen curriculum implementation, teacher practice, and instructional consistency.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with instruction, technology, research, product, and coaching teams to create aligned and sustainable solutions.
- Using qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, measure impact, and continuously improve instructional strategies.
- Sustaining organizational learning by sharing expertise, contributing to strategic initiatives, and helping shape future AI-enabled education approaches.
Requirements
- 8+ years of combined experience in ELA instruction, instructional coaching, and adult learning, including at least 5 years of classroom teaching experience and 3 years of instructional leadership, coaching, or professional learning leadership.
- Demonstrated experience supporting educators in implementing, adapting, and internalizing high-quality instructional materials.
- Strong pedagogical and content expertise in ELA, including knowledge of Science of Reading principles and standards-aligned instruction.
- Experience implementing high-quality instructional materials in ELA; familiarity with HMH Into Literature is a plus.
- Experience designing and facilitating professional learning that improves teacher practice and instructional outcomes.
- Ability to lead pilots, evaluate evidence, and make data-informed decisions in dynamic environments.
- Technical fluency with AI tools and the ability to interpret AI-generated insights to inform instructional design and educator support.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills with educators, leaders, and cross-functional teams.
- Able to travel moderately for organizational retreats, programming, professional development, and related events.

- Base salary range of $103,649 - $140,231 per year, with starting compensation determined by qualifications and relevant experience.
