Purpose
The Director of Accounting Operations is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting functions of the Tim Tebow Foundation (TTF) and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations in support of TTF’s mission.
Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & General Ledger
- Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end close processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Maintain chart of accounts and accounting policies to support organizational reporting needs.
- Review and approve account reconciliations and ensure resolution of discrepancies.
- Aid with annual budgeting processes for TTF and affiliates.
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Oversee accounts payable functions including invoice processing, vendor management, payment approvals, and expense allocations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, purchasing policies, and donor/grant restrictions.
- Monitor cash disbursement processes and maintain strong segregation of duties.
- Improve AP workflows and automation where appropriate.
Revenue Processing & Contribution Accounting
- Oversee recording and reconciliation of donations, grants, event revenue, pledges, and other revenue streams.
- Ensure proper classification of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Partner with Engagement and Event teams to ensure accurate donor revenue reporting and reconciliation between CRM and accounting systems.
- Support contribution reporting and audit documentation.
- Lead the year-end tax receipting process for TTF donors.
Payroll & Benefits Accounting
- Oversee payroll processing and related reporting activities.
- Ensure payroll tax compliance and timely filing/reporting requirements.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts including benefits, taxes, PTO accruals, and retirement contributions.
- Collaborate with HR regarding compensation changes, employee records, and benefits administration.
Financial Reporting & Compliance (supporting Director of Financial Reporting)
- Oversee production of accounting input for monthly financial statements and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Support with annual audit preparation.
- Aid with Form 990 preparation and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting requirements, grant restrictions, and organizational policies.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Process Improvement
- Help optimize financial workflow and reporting capabilities.
- Identify areas and related financial tools to improve operational efficiency, process automation and reporting accuracy.
- Develop scalable processes to support organizational growth.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and mentor Finance function staff including Sr. Accountant, Accountant(s), and Revenue Specialist.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Establish performance expectations and support professional development of team members, including annual performance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management responsibility
- CPA designation or CPA candidate
- Direct experience in nonprofit accounting and fund accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience overseeing general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and financial close processes
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting audits and IRS Form 990 preparation
- Experience in a Shared Services environment preferred
- NetSuite ERP experience strongly preferred
- Experience with multiple entities and donor-restrictions preferred
