About the Role
Full-time, year-round position to provide coordination, supervision, management, and oversight for the operation of SFSC's Nursing Education Department.
Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates the accreditation process for the Nursing Education programs, including preparing self-studies and coordinating site visits.
- Conducts ongoing program outcomes assessment.
- Develops and revises program curriculum as appropriate.
- Meets and plans with the Dean, Health Sciences, and faculty members responsible for Bachelor's/Associate Degree in Nursing, Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and continuing education for nurses.
- Guides the revision and development of course outlines; submits suggested outlines for group approval.
- Monitors curriculum of all programs under the rules and regulations of the Florida Board of Nursing and nursing accrediting agency.
- Plans and coordinates all programs in the department, submitting course planning sheets and schedules at appropriate times.
- Ensures full-time and adjunct faculty are appropriately certified and contracted.
- Assists with departmental staffing, including making hiring recommendations, preparing requests for advertising positions, interviewing candidates, and providing orientation to new faculty.
- Evaluates faculty and distributes instructional load according to College procedure.
- Facilitates faculty involvement in departmental programs, committees, and other activities.
- Teaches courses in the Nursing Education program as required (teaching assignments must exceed 264 hours per year to be eligible for overload pay).
- Participates in budget planning and managing, including presenting proposals, attending meetings, monitoring the current budget, and submitting amendments as necessary.
- Develops plans for student recruitment and is actively involved in selection and placement, including applying entrance requirements, preparing program brochures, and counseling prospective students.
- Assists in the selection, organization, and coordination of clinical learning experiences for students, including visiting and evaluating community health agencies and preparing formal agreements with clinical sites.
- Participates in the administrative functions of the College, including chairing meetings, attending various College meetings, and actively participating in college committee work.
- Reviews and recommends teaching materials, including updating Learning Resource holdings, reviewing new textbooks, and monitoring audiovisual materials.
- Maintains responsibility for equipment and supplies, including recommending purchases and ensuring appropriate maintenance of the nursing facility.
- Conducts regularly scheduled Advisory Committee meetings and implements recommendations when appropriate.
- Coordinates, documents, and implements all unit action planning, outcomes assessment, and institutional effectiveness efforts within the scope of administrative supervision.
- Monitors and promotes progress toward meeting related college and departmental goals and objectives.
- Acts as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)/responsible person for Title IX and Clery Act compliance, including participating in required training.
- Acts in accordance with local, state, and federal laws/regulations as well as College policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Master's degree in Nursing from an institutionally accredited organization required; Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- At least five years of practice as an R.N. (two years of which should be in a health care institution) and three years of full-time nursing instruction or equivalent required.
- Related administrative/management experience preferred.
- A current unencumbered Florida Registered Nursing License must be maintained.
Pay
Starting annual salary range: $85,000 - $90,000
Classification: Professional Staff, Level III
