About the Role

Responsible for the development and direction of patient care services for the market’s cardiovascular service line. Directs activities of Patient Care Navigators and Chest Pain Coordinator. Serves as department administrator, establishing and enforcing policies, procedures, standards, and objectives. Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow, with 24-hour accountability for the ongoing effective operation of the department. Focuses on supporting the hospital’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives while prioritizing patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and the community as customers. Oversees continuous assessment, improvement, coordination, and integration of department services and standards of care. Responsibilities include approving timekeeping, employee evaluations, meeting regulatory standards, approving supply orders, and leading department strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• People & Finance:
  • Prepare and adhere to department budget based on volume.
  • Manage supply chain for department needs.
  • Monitor productivity and cost per unit of service; implement action plans for variances.
  • Plan work assignments and resource allocation with consideration for timeliness and financial impact.
  • Perform edits for Kronos time management system and payroll.
• Growth:
  • Support organizational strategies to increase volumes.
  • Mentor and develop staff, including conducting new employee onboarding.
  • Hire, terminate, train, evaluate performance, and supervise staff.
  • Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address variances.
  • Promote employee engagement through staff participation in department operations.
  • Manage staff to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and safety guidelines.
  • Enhance communication between staff, departments, and customers.
  • Provide direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner.
  • Cultivate and promote staff expertise relevant to the department’s needs.
  • Assist with formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, job descriptions, and competencies.
• Quality:
  • Gather and report quality indicators generated by department activity.
  • Support strategies to meet core measure goals.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve patient experience.
• Community:
  • Participate in organization-sponsored events.

Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of acute care hospital experience specializing in cardiovascular services.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • RN License in the state of Arizona; BLS/ACLS certifications.
• Preferred Requirements:
  • 10+ years of acute care/cardiovascular hospital experience.
