Director, Natural Gas Marketing
About the role
The Director, Natural Gas Marketing at Crescent Energy is responsible for leading the company's commercial strategy across natural gas marketing, midstream services, gathering, processing, transportation, and related infrastructure. This role involves managing and optimizing a complex portfolio of commercial agreements, supporting production flow assurance, evaluating market opportunities, and ensuring the company receives maximum value for its production.
Responsibilities
- Set and lead the commercial strategy across natural gas marketing, midstream services, gathering, processing, transportation, and related infrastructure.
- Own, manage, and optimize a complex portfolio of third-party midstream, marketing, transportation, processing, and related commercial agreements.
- Understand, negotiate, draft, edit, and summarize agreements required to facilitate all marketing aspects of the Company’s natural gas production.
- Lead high-value commercial negotiations and structure agreements that support long-term growth, operational flexibility, and risk mitigation.
- Work directly with the Legal Department to review material agreements and other commercial documents prior to approval and execution.
- Align commercial commitments with production forecasts, infrastructure capacity, market conditions, operational realities, and Company objectives.
- Make recommendations to management on high-profile marketing, midstream, commercial, and infrastructure-related matters.
- Identify and unlock opportunities across infrastructure, partnerships, market access, logistics, and system optimization.
- Undertake RFPs and other optimization projects to maximize value and optionality for the Company’s gas production.
- Determine past and future gas price differentials in support of Acquisition and Divestiture, Reservoir Engineering, Finance, and other Company valuation needs.
- Prepare and present periodic market updates and commercial recommendations to leadership.
- Support monthly invoicing, accruals, yield calculations, and related commercial reporting for various fields.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of natural gas, NGLs, and gas processing, midstream infrastructure, and gas marketing. They should have strong knowledge of gathering, processing, transportation, gas balancing, contract administration, and related commercial arrangements. Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, commercial strategy, portfolio management, and value optimization is essential.
Skills
- Deep understanding of natural gas, NGLs and gas processing, midstream infrastructure, and gas marketing.
- Strong knowledge of gathering, processing, transportation, gas balancing, contract administration, and related commercial arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, structure, draft, review, and manage complex commercial agreements.
- Strong financial, analytical, and valuation skills, including the ability to evaluate price differentials, processing economics, NGL values, plant recoveries, and commercial trade-offs.
- Ability to model commercial scenarios and make sound recommendations based on risk, value, optionality, and operational feasibility.
- Strong understanding of market fundamentals, commodity price drivers, basis differentials, logistics, and infrastructure constraints.
- Ability to support A&D efforts through commercial diligence, risk assessment, valuation support, and agreement evaluation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex commercial matters clearly to senior leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
- Advanced Excel skills required; general PC proficiency required.
- Strategic thinker with a practical execution focus.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience with exposure to commercial transactions in gas, NGLs, and midstream assets.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, commercial strategy, portfolio management, and value optimization.

Schedule
