About the role

The Director - Multifamily Asset Management will lead the Multifamily business unit, overseeing financial and operational goals, and managing a portfolio of 7 to 10 multifamily assets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 7 to 10 multifamily assets, including business plan preparation and presentation, monthly cash flow projections, and oversight of third party service providers.
  • Evaluate real estate opportunities through the Westmount investment acquisition process.
  • Direct and partner with third party management firms across multifamily portfolios.
  • Ensure documentation and adherence to Asset Management policies and procedures, and develop and implement process improvements for efficiency and profitability.
  • Enhance controls program to ensure financial accuracy and protect company, owner assets and resources.
  • Tour and inspect properties regularly, gain market knowledge, coordinate competitive surveys, and manage property financial and reporting processes.
  • Review and approve annual budgets, recommend capital expenditures, and ensure timely and accurate compliance with approved budgets.
  • Support property sales and acquisitions by participating in the due diligence process, oversee real estate tax appeals, manage risk assessment, and oversee insurance compliance.
  • Monitor performance measures, identify trends, and provide regular updates to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of seven years of related experience and/or training, preferably in property management with oversight of large apartment communities (over 200 units).
  • Affordable housing experience is a plus.
  • Professional affiliation (CAPS designation preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with MRI is highly desirable.
