About the role
The Director of Medical Staff Services at Catholic Medical Center assists with implementation of and compliance with credentialing initiatives/processes. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable policies, accreditation standards, and regulations.
- Facilitate meetings for various committees and support functions for continued monitoring.
- Manage correspondence between facility and individual medical staff members.
- Support medical staff officers in their duties.
- Prepare credentialing reports and develop medical staff governance documents.
- Ensure all facility non-privileged practitioner processes comply with Ethics & Compliance Policy.
- Coordinate the collection and handling of medical staff dues and other fees.
- Update Meditech Practitioner Dictionary/Database to be consistent with practitioner data in Cactus.
- Develop and supervise annual budgets if assigned.
- Manage medical staff hotline.
- Facilitate orientation for new medical staff members and provide education to administrators and department directors.
- Serve as the facility's subject matter expert regarding accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Notify the CPC, Division MSS, and corporate teams of upcoming or ongoing surveys.
- Respond to accreditation and regulatory compliance citations or deficiencies by developing and implementing corrective action plans.
- Apply the credentials evaluation process uniformly to all applications.
- Facilitate review, assessment, and authenticated documentation of evaluations.
- Manage and update privilege content within the Visual Cactus system and MEDITECH Practitioner Database.
- Coordinate access to credentialing information and facilitate regulatory agency reporting.
- Coordinate with the facility’s quality department for focused and ongoing professional practice evaluations.
- Coordinate with facility leadership for internal and external peer reviews.
- Complete summaries of FPPE, OPPE, and peer review results for evaluation by medical staff leaders.
- Identify critical MSSD performance benchmarks, measure performance, and take action to improve when necessary.
- Coordinate with the facility’s Patient Safety Officer for medical staff review of occurrence reports, patient complaints, close call data, and SPAE reports.
- Coordinate with the facility’s Patient Safety Officer regarding medical staff participation in HCA Healthcare PSO activities.
- Review and evaluate an applicant’s claims history and NPDB reports.
- Submit reports to the NPDB as required by Federal law and manage responses to requests for information.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical staff administration or a related field.
- A strong understanding of HCA Healthcare and Parallon Credentialing Processing Center policies, accreditation standards, and regulations.
- Experience in managing medical staff committees and coordinating facility-based credentialing tasks.
- Knowledge of CME programs and the ability to facilitate orientation for new medical staff members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with medical staff, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Cactus and MEDITECH systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Pay
