Clinical-stage, venture-backed medical device company advancing next-generation biomaterial platforms for minimally invasive medical applications. The company has completed first-in-human clinical studies, received significant regulatory recognition, and is progressing toward a pivotal clinical trial while expanding its technology pipeline.

About the role

Unique opportunity to establish and lead the company's biomaterials platform, driving the development of implantable biomaterials, hydrogels, injectable polymer systems, particulate medical devices, and advanced drug delivery technologies from early concept through clinical translation and manufacturing scale-up.

Responsibilities

  • Lead optimization of a clinical-stage embolic particle platform.
  • Lead development of polymer-based embolic agents from concept through clinical application.
  • Transform embolic technologies into platforms for controlled drug delivery.
  • Create a robust, reproducible, and clinically translatable biomaterials platform.
  • Direct cross-functional teams with experience bringing advanced biomaterial products to market in highly regulated medical device environments.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8-15+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally within medical devices, biomaterials, or combination products.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Medical embolic devices and embolic agents (microparticles, liquids, and hydrogels)
    • Polymer chemistry and crosslinking strategies
    • Particle synthesis and manufacturing processes
    • Radiopacity and imaging compatibility
    • Mechanical properties and injectability
    • Catheter compatibility
    • Sterilization compatibility
    • Shelf-life and stability
    • Process development and manufacturing scalability
    • Intellectual property generation
    • Drug loading and controlled release strategies

Skills & Experience

  • Experience as the lead technical scientist, engineer, or product development leader responsible for a polymer-based medical product from concept through commercialization, including:
    • Product architecture and formulation development
    • Design verification and validation
    • Manufacturing transfer and scale-up
    • Regulatory submission support
    • Clinical translation
  • Candidates from companies developing polymer-based embolic agents, injectable biomaterials, implantable polymers, tissue sealants, regenerative medicine technologies, drug delivery systems, or other advanced biomaterial platforms are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Combine deep scientific expertise with a demonstrated track record of leading polymer-based medical technologies from concept through clinical translation.

Location
