About the role
WTOC is seeking a director with a background in master control. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about bringing the producer's vision to life while managing tasks in master control. This role requires a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Direct live newscasts daily
- Monitor and maintain video and audio in Master Control
- Operate broadcast equipment, including PTZ cameras, audio mixers, and production switchers
- Create clear and accurate reports of on-air discrepancies
- Code newscasts for Ross automation
- Work closely with other departments to meet daily demands
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in directing, master control, production, or related fields
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize complex tasks
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Understanding of FCC broadcast regulations
- Experience with Ross Overdrive, Caprica, ENPS, and Crispin automation and playout systems preferred
- Proficiency with Ross Overdrive automation, Ross production video switcher, VizRT graphics system, Evertz master control video switcher, Crispin Master Control automation, and Edius editing software
- Ability to perform remote camera operation, prompter operation, audio operation, commercial/promo ingesting, program ingesting/segmenting, and desktop editing
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Knowledgeable in operating PCs and automation software
- Flexibility with scheduling and job assignments
- Willingness to learn new hardware and software
