About the Role

The Director, Manufacturing Excellence is a senior leader of the site responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s strategies, goals, and objectives. This role oversees the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of the site project portfolio, process excellence program, and digital transformation, ensuring consistency with business strategy, commitments, and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Consumer Health Supply Chain and appropriate councils to identify key emerging Operational Excellence opportunities and drive overall achievement of manufacturing effectiveness.
  • In coordination with the site’s Project Management Office (PMO), optimize the entire portfolio to improve costs of resources and maximize benefits while maturing digital capabilities.
  • Maintain high quality and safety compliance standards while planning and executing the project portfolio.
  • Drive associated governance processes to enable continuous improvement, product insourcing, and new product introductions (NPIs).
  • Facilitate the Process Excellence Program to enable growth, improve systems, waste elimination, and employee engagement by applying Process Excellence tools within the KOE framework.
  • Act as an internal consultant, influencing decision-making and proactively developing solutions to uncover business opportunities and actionable insights driving end-to-end business KPIs.
  • Support daily business operations and function as the site Subject Matter Expert for digital, problem-solving, and innovation.
  • Support organizational design and implementation of processes under administrative direction. Manage the implementation of major organizational effectiveness initiatives to increase leadership and organizational capacity.
  • Lead crisis management situations and function as the Site Leader in their absence.
  • Represent the Fort Washington Site and champion the Supply Chain Excellence Program. Facilitate Fort Washington Leadership Team (FWLT) meetings and ensure adherence to FWLT standard work. Facilitate Operational Reviews and Network Strategy meetings. Maintain site capacity models.
  • Represent the Fort Washington Site with the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Association as well as with government affairs.
  • Represent Fort Washington in Regional and Global Governances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in sciences or engineering; Master's degree or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility in an OTC or Pharma regulated environment.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Project Management tools.
  • Proven leadership with significant experience in demonstrating effective influence of senior management.
  • Proven record of leading teams in delivering results.
  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Proven record in leading organizational design and development.
  • Strong strategic mind, outstanding critical thinking, influencing, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Director QA, MST, or Operations experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in statistics, good manufacturing practices, and pharmaceutical industry applicable regulations.
  • Advanced research capabilities, problem-solving, excellent organizational abilities, and project management; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong data visualization and analytical skills, including statistical tool knowledge.
  • Strong financial acumen at both plant/business level and department budgetary level.
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) ability from floor-level operations up to senior VP levels; can demonstrate excellent visualization and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and workshops at multiple organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions; embraces change.
  • PMP or a Project Management Certification is highly desirable; demonstrated enterprise-wide knowledge and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Black Belt or Green Belt Certification is highly preferred; Six-Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred.

  • Competitive annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges: $183,175.00 - $258,600.00.
