About the role
The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for media and culture, a keen interest in the latest brands, and a natural curiosity that drives exploration into new market opportunities. They will be a self-starter who can think creatively about strategic growth initiatives and collaborate effectively with the UTA Ventures team and agents.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, negotiate and structure licensing deals, and expand UTA's presence in the marketplace
- Participate in the ideation and analysis of new business opportunities and investments in key areas, including media, technology, licensing & merchandising, consumer products, and lifestyle brands
- Conduct research and analysis on key industry sectors, trends, and news within specific categories identified by the UTA Ventures team
- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the consumer ecosystem, including venture capitalists, private equity firms, family offices, and incubators
- Create and communicate presentations and materials related to key strategic initiatives and industry trends
- Lead and collaborate on business execution for deals and companies post-launch
- Creatively construct commission models that may include royalties, equity, or other forms of payment
- Pitch and secure new intellectual property rights for licensing commercialization across various forms of entertainment and brands
- Create financial analyses that account for commissions and projected revenues
- Work with retail partners to drive rotational programs
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in a licensing and/or business development role within the CPG industry, with quantifiable results as an individual contributor
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in identifying and closing large scale licensing deals
- Strong enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and a willingness to learn about the business side of traditional and emerging media and entertainment and consumer lifestyle sectors
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the consumer ecosystem, including venture capitalists, private equity firms, family offices, and incubators
- Ability to engage effectively with clients, agents, management, legal teams, and senior leadership
- Team player with a proactive, results-oriented mindset, strategic thinking, and strong problem-solving skills
- Highly organized, flexible, and possessing strong analytical skills
