Summary
The Director of Laboratory Services plays a crucial role in overseeing the laboratory department, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory department.
- Hire, terminate, monitor, evaluate, and coach employees.
- Evaluate department activities against established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with CAP and other regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement new policies and procedures to enhance customer and employee relationships.
- Evaluate reimbursement policies and practices.
- Create and monitor the department's budget.
- Maintain open communication with medical directors and hospital administration.
- Interact with physician offices and nursing homes to maintain positive relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field from an approved college or university.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in a laboratory setting.

- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to foster collaboration and positive relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and policy development.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- System-wide perspective and sound judgment in decision-making.
